This folktale is adapted from the oral literature of thernMuara Enim, South Sumatra Province with the title MisterrnBelalang" which is translated by Mulawarman.rnThis story entitled Mister Belalang tells the story of anrnold man named Pak Belalang. Incidentally, he was suddenlyrnknown as a powerful astrologer who was capable to answer allrncomplicated problems. Until one day, the fame of Mister Belalangrnas an astrologer was heard up to the kingdom. Mister Belalangrnwas asked to answer the challenge by the king. He was asked tornanswer difficult puzzles from enemy. When he was able tornanswer all puzzles, he would save the kingdom from thernoverthrow of the enemy. If it fails, he will get a severe sentencernfrom the king.rnAlthough the main source of this story comes from oralrnliterary texts from Muara Enim Regency, but in reality there arernsome sources that raise the story of Mister Belalang which isrnrelatively not too different from each other. In connection withrnthat, the writer considers that oral literature is very important tornbe rewritten in the form of folk tales that can be read, known, andrnenjoyed by society, especially for children."
